Advocate Conferencing

Virtual Conference

Service Description

The purpose of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is to ensure that all students with disabilities are provided a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services tailored to their unique needs and designed to prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. As your Special Education Advocate, we will: Attend IEP eligibility determination meetings, including those related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, Emotional/Behavioral Disability, Other Health Impairment, Speech or Language Impairment, and Specific Learning Disability. Advocate to ensure your child has access to fair, equitable, and high-quality educational services. Attend IEP and Section 504 plan meetings to support effective planning, implementation, and accountability in your child’s educational program. Assist in requiring school districts to provide appropriate staff training for individuals responsible for delivering services and supports to your child. Our goal is to ensure that the rights of children with disabilities and their parents are fully protected. In furtherance of this mission, we support school programs that educate children with disabilities through special education and related services and promote access to vocational and transitional opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities.
